Development of Quantum Anti-espionage Equipment

The Wernher Von Braun Advanced Research Center, in partnership with universities and national and international companies, as well as its Startups Hashdata and NtropiQ, are investing resources in the development of new products and services based on quantum technologies. The network has the support and participation of six universities of excellence in the area of Quantics, as well as several companies.

The initial focus of the group is the development of an advanced security system for fiber optic communication, using quantum principles that ensure the inviolability of information, making it naturally immune to spy and data theft. What guarantees this feature is the quantum phenomenon that demonstrates that by interacting with a light particle (as when observing this particle, a photon, for example), it will change its quantum state and this will change which receiver channel is will arrive on, so we can infer whether the information received is safe or if there was any kind of violation on its way.

The project is led by Prof. Celso Jorge Villas Boas, professor at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) and coordinator of extension projects in quantum technologies with the Von Braun Center.

The initiative went on publication in the magazine Valor Econômico, can be accessed through this link.

The Von Braun Center develops projects in the area of quantum technologies through its NTropiQ startup. The large areas of expertise of the startup are:

  • Quantum Communication: Security Systems such as mentioned in the subject, quantum encryption, communication protocols, optical communications and development of photonic chips;
  • Quantum Computing: Artificial Intelligence Algorithms (AI) Quantums, Quantum Simulations (molecules, protein and other folds), optimization algorithms (logistics routing, inventory dynamic allocation and others) and algorithms for Complex differential equations solution and fluid dynamics applications;
  • Development of new atomic clocks;
  • Quantum Training: The first training to be done will address the theme of information technologies / quantum information, addressing from the foundations of information theory to more advanced processes of communication, coding, encryption, processing and analysis data, communication concepts and quantum computing, quantum sensors and applications.
